A 24-year-old man from Bath has been arrested for suspected grooming offences this afternoon, after being caught by a West Country paedophile hunter.
Danny Catcher, who has performed five other stings in the Bath area and one in Swindon in recent weeks, has made his sixth Bath-located arrest.
Police were called to the incident on New King Street at around 3.10pm today, Friday 4 August; a man was arrested on suspicion of meeting a child following grooming.
Danny Catcher told Wiltshire 999s: “At approximately 3.15pm this afternoon, I confronted a man on Stanhope Place in Bath who believed he was there to meet a 14-year-old girl who he had been talking to online.
“The 24-year-old local man was detained by myself under citizen’s arrest – without any the use of physical force – due to breaking Section 15 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
“Accepting that he was detained and the that police were on their way, he waited with me on New King Street for a short time until officers arrived.
“He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of meeting a child following grooming and taken to Keynsham custody where he remains at this time.
“I am unable to comment any further at this time, while an investigation by Avon and Somerset Constabulary is ongoing.”
