“Her condition is not believed to be life-threatening”, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

Adding: “Our enquiries suggested this was not a random assault, but that she had been injured by someone known to her.”

A 29-year-old man from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and is currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.

Police say their investigation is ongoing, and ask anyone with information relating tot his incident to contact them by calling 101 and quoting crime number 54200047254.
