A man accused of sexual activity with a child has been remanded in custody after it’s alleged he attempted to encourage her not to attend court.
Joshua Simpkins, 27, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this afternoon via video link from custody charged with witness intimidation.
The defendant, of Bond Street, Trowbridge, was charged with sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 on 18 February this year.
It’s the crown’s case that Simpkins, on 19 February, sent abusive messages to his alleged victim on Snapchat. It’s claimed he made threats towards her to try and stop her from attending future court hearings.
Market stall worker Simpkins was remanded in custody by the bench to appear before Salisbury Crown Court for a plea hearing in May.
