A 28-year-old man has appeared in court charged with a serious sexual assault on a stranger in a field in Salisbury in 2019.
Nicholas Wells is accused of attacking the woman in Hudson’s Field, off Castle Road, in the city between midnight and 12.30am on 19 May.
The defendant, of Eyres Way, faces a single charge of sexual assault by penetration – an offence that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court today, he entered no plea.
Due to the seriousness of the alleged incident, magistrates adjourned the case to Salisbury Crown Court on 30 April. Mr Wells was remanded in custody.
