A major road in Swindon has been closed by police after a ‘vehicle hit a footbridge’.
Officers responded to reports of a crane colliding with the bridge over Dorcan Way at around midday today (Wednesday).
Due to concerns about the safety of the structure, the road is currently closed to traffic.
The footbridge is also closed — it has been cordoned off with police tape.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We responded to reports of a crane colliding with a footbridge on Dorcan Way, Swindon just before 12 noon today (22/02).
“The footbridge has been closed as a safety measure and the council have been informed.”
