A large-scale training exercise involving various emergency services and partner agencies is to takes place in Swindon town centre overnight tonight.
The exercise will test the response of police and other partners to a major incident. It is being held at The Brunel Shopping Centre from 9pm and will finish at approximately 6am.
The event’s been planned over the part few months, and involves various different organisations.
Police officers will be out in the local area to reassure members of the public who come across the incident; elements of the exercise that will be noisy.
Wiltshire Police say the training exercise isn’t in response to any specific threat.

A police spokesperson said: “This is one of a number of pre-planned exercises organised around the country to test and strengthen responses to a major incident.
“You are likely to see a lot of activity in Swindon town centre throughout the evening and into tomorrow morning.
“There will also be a cordon in place which will restrict some access to the town centre. Please do not be alarmed but do listen to any requests from officers on the ground & adhere to any instructions they give you regarding access to the town centre.
“We would like to thank the public in advance for their support and co-operation.”
