Explosions heard as major fire erupts at property in Swindon

A major fire has broken out at a property in Swindon this evening.

Firefighters arrived at the scene of the blaze on The Circle in Pinehurst at just before 7pm.

Some residents says that they’ve heard loud explosions at the scene.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Multiple crews are tackling a fire in the Pinehurst area of Swindon located on a street off Whitworth Road.

”Due the large amount of smoke, local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.”

It’s understood that a bonfire spread to nearby fences and bushes, affecting at least three gardens. Garden furniture and a hot tub has been destroyed.
