UPDATE: ‘Guns found’ after pursuit ends in crash on M4 junction in Wiltshire
An M4 junction in Wiltshire has been cordoned off after a car flipped in a dramatic crash.
The road traffic collision took place in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
Junction 17 is partially closed as a result – initially for emergency services to attend.
It’s believed the incident involved several vehicles, including a a black Audi Q3 – which overturned – and a black Nissan Juke.
Nobody is believed to have sustained significant injuries, it’s understood. However, an investigation is due to take place throughout the morning.
Traffic approaching the junction from Chippenham, along the A350, is being diverted down the M4. Motorists will have to drive to Junction 18.
Motorists travelling along the A429 Malmesbury onto Junction 17 are able to access both M4 turnings, and the A350.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The M4 Eastbound at junction 17 has been closed following a road traffic collision.
“Traffic approaching the roundabout from the A350 and the A429 will be diverted as emergency services attend. There will be no scope to enter the A429 from this junction.
“It may be closed for a number of hours while an investigation takes place. Please seek alternative routes.”
