Three people have been killed in a multiple-vehicle crash near Andover.
Emergency services were called to the serious incident on the A303, just over the Wiltshire border, at around 8.40am yesterday morning (25 August).
A Vauxhall Astra, a Mercedes food delivery van, a heavy good vehicle (HGV) and a DAF recovery truck were all involved in the pile-up which saw three lives lost.
Those killed were travelling in separate vehicles, with the HGV driver arrested at the scene.
The 38-year-old lorry driver, a man from Shropshire, was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs and causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The road was closed for around 20 hours whilst a collision investigation and recovery work was undertaken.
DC Cate Paling said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, particularly anyone with dash cam footage.
“In the immediate moments after the collision, a small white car with a black roof passed the scene and we believe they may be an important witness who we wish to speak with.
