A large section of a Chippenham park has been cordoned off as a crime scene.
Police have taped off an area of The Island, near Monkton Park, following a report of a serious assault at around 12.30am this morning (11 June).
Within the cordon, which is close to Wilko and Town Bridge, are two yellow evidence markers and little else at this stage.
Forensic investigation work is ongoing at the location this morning – with a crime scene investigator and police community support officer present.
Wiltshire Police is asking anyone who witnesses a discussion or altercation between a male and female in the area shortly after midnight to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 12 of today (11 June).
