The victim of a knife attack in Swindon his morning has since been transferred to an Oxford hospital with a life-threatening head injury.

Following the assault in Thames Avenue, the casualty was taken to Great Western Hospital but has since been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital.

Wiltshire Police had initially labelled his injuries as “not believed to be life-threatening”.

A spokesperson for force said: “We were called to a report of an assault on Thames Avenue this morning (04/05) at approximately 9.15am.

“One man was taken to Great Western Hospital but is being transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with a life-threatening head injury.

“Our investigation is at a very early stage but the two men involved are understood to be known to each other and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.

“A cordon was set up on Thames Avenue while our enquiries were carried out. No arrests have been made at this stage.”
