A former Brunel Rooms nightclub boss has appeared in court charged with committing fraud to the value of more than £24,000.
34-year-old Jason Ranford appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (1 September) where he entered a not guilty plea to one count of fraud by false representation.
The defendant, of Hinton Parva Lane, is accused of selling a silver Lincoln limousine owned by Green Light Credit Limited, a credit lender, in November 2017.
Prosecutor Asha Seenauth said it is the crown’s case that Ranford used £5,000 secured from the lender to buy the vehicle but failed to make any repayments.
It’s claimed he then sold the limousine, belonging to the lender, to a limousine company owner for £3,500 with no mention of the outstanding finance agreement or third party involvement.
Green Light Credit Limited claims it amassed £24,604.09 in fees during the attempted recovery and repossession operation. The vehicle was not successfully traced.
Ranford faces a magistrates court trial on 25 February 2022.
