Wiltshire Police is investigating a report that a service vehicle collided with a member of the public’s van and then fled the scene.
The incident happened at the Haxton Bridge near Netheravon at around 7.45 on Saturday (6 August).
A police car reportedly overtook a vehicle which had stopped to give way to a Volkswagen Transporter van coming over the bridge, before colliding with the van — scraping the side of the vehicle with its wing mirror.
The police car is said to have failed to stop at the scene, and immediately left the area after the occupants switched on its blue lights and sirens.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police confirmed it was aware of the report, and is investigating the incident.
“We would like to reassure our communities that our enquiries are ongoing regarding this matter”, a spokesperson said.
They added: “Anyone who has any information regarding this incident, which happened in the Netheravon area shortly before 8pm last night (06/08), should contact us on 101.
“Thank you for your assistance with this matter.”
