A man was described as ‘hugely disrespectful’ after he drove hours after his ban was imposed.
Jacob Balint, 32, was pulled over by police after the Vauxhall Corsa he was driving along the M4 past Swindon was flagged as being untaxed on 24 December last year.
On questioning the defendant, of Maindee Parade, Newport, Wales, officers discovered that he was disqualified from driving – despite never holding a full licence.
He’d been banned from the roads less than 48 hours earlier – on 22 December. At Swindon Magistrates’ Court earlier this month, Balint pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified.
“It’s huge disrespect, it’s two fingers up to the court”, District Judge Joanna Dickens said.
Adding: “You’re on the M4, assuming you travelled from Wales, it’s a busy and dangerous road; you’ve got no business driving when the ban is there.”
She imposed a community order with the requirement to complete 80 hours of unpaid work. He was also banned from driving for six months and told to pay costs and a surcharge.
