A number of horses, donkeys and other animals have been killed in a blaze at an family adventure park in Somerset.
Emergency services were called to a fire at Animal Farm Adventure Park, near Burnham-on-Sea, at around 3.40pm on Tuesday (18 November).
A large building was engulfed in flames, resulting in the deaths of two horses, two donkeys and an unknown number of small animals.
In a statement yesterday, a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 3.37pm today to reports of a fire in a building at Animal Farm Adventure Park in Berrow, near Burnham-on-Sea.
“Four appliances from Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea and Cheddar fire stations attended.
“Crews used two hose reel jets, two main jets, and breathing apparatus to extinguish a fire in a building measuring 30m x 50m which was completely destroyed by fire.
“Two appliances from Avon Fire and Rescue Service also attended. The cause is not thought to be deliberate.
“Unfortunately we don’t have an exact number or list, two horses, two donkeys, and a number of small animals were killed.”
