A horse rider has been airlifted to hospital after an incident at a showground.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance were called to the Somerford Show Ground, in Great Somerford, shortly before 1pm this afternoon (Thursday).
Utilising the charity’s Volvo XC90 critical care car and the helicopter to access the field, medics provided emergency care some distance from the road.
The seriously injured casualty was then airlifted to the major trauma centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol at around 2.45pm.
The exact nature of the horse rider’s injuries are unknown.
