A ‘gunman’ has been arrested after an incident in Swindon town centre today (Thursday).
Armed police were deployed after a man was spotted with a firearm at around 8.30am.
999 calls from members of the public sparked an significant response from Wiltshire Police, who carried out urgent searches for the suspect.
Locals witnessed officers in Broad Street, Newcastle Street and York Road during the incident.
A 23-year-old man was soon after arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm. He is currently in police custody for questioning.
