A farmhouse in the Wiltshire countryside was destroyed in a blaze overnight.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) crews responded to reports of a house fire in Idover Lane, Dauntsey, at around 11pm yesterday (Wednesday 31 May).
On arrival, they found Idover Demesne Farmhouse – a Grade 2 listed building – well alight.
The property was completely destroyed by fire, with firefighters continuing to deal with the incident this morning (8am).
The homeowners, and their dogs, escaped from the home uninjured, according to locals.
DWFRS said crews from Malmesbury, Chippenham, Swindon, Cricklade and Calne were mobilised, along with neighbouring crews from Tetbury and Cirencester, water carriers from Royal Wootton Bassett and Pewsey, the aerial ladder platform from Swindon, and Incident Command Unit from Devizes.
“Firefighters found the property well alight on arrival and used main jets, a water tower from the aerial ladder platform and high volume pump to tackle the fire throughout the night”, a spokesperson said.
Adding: “The incident has since been scaled back – crews from Stratton, Ludgershall and Westlea are in attendance.”
Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
