A man who died at a Swindon restaurant has been named in a family tribute.

Daniel Herbert, from Cirencester, tragically died in the car park of HongXin Oriental Buffet in Peatmoor at around midday on Saturday (4 November).

Members of the public, police and medics all provided emergency care to the 38-year-old following his collapse, but their efforts were sadly in vain.

His sister Trudy released a tribute to Wiltshire 999s, describing him as a ‘gentle giant’.

“Daniel was a gentle giant with the biggest heart, he was always there for his friends, a loving son, a great brother, he will be sadly missed by us all.”

On social media on Sunday (5 November), she thanked people who helped at the scene.

Trudy wrote: “My family and I would like to thank the person who called the emergency services who tried to save my brother, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Wiltshire Police confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

“We were called to the sudden death of a man in his 30s in the car park at HongXin Oriental Buffet in Swindon at approximately midday on Saturday”, a spokesperson said.

Adding: “The man is believed to have suffered a medical episode. His next of kin has been informed.”
