Full list of schools closed in Swindon and Wiltshire over teachers’ COVID-19 safety fears

Many teaching staff across Swindon and Wiltshire are taking their union’s advice and refusing to go into work on Monday 4 January following the Christmas holidays.

It comes after concerns over teachers’ safety working in classrooms with children as COVID-19 cases rise, forcing some schools to close due to insufficient staffing levels.

Most schools will remain open to vulnerable children or children of key workers. To check, refer to the letter issued to parents and guardians, or contact the school directly.

Here’s a full list of schools unable to open (this page is being updated regularly – please refresh the page or check back later for the latest version of this list):

PRIMARY

  • Beechcroft Infants School, Swindon (closed to classes 7, 8 and 9 only)
  • Even Swindon Primary School, Swindon
  • Eldene Primary School, Swindon (closed Tuesday onwards)
  • Grange Junior School, Swindon
  • Larkrise School, Trowbridge
  • Oakhurst Primary School, Swindon
  • Shaw Ridge Primary School, Swindon
  • Wellington Primary Academy, Tidworth
  • Wellington Eagles Primary Academy, Tidworth

SECONDARY

  • N/A
