Four men killed when the car they were travelling in left the road and collided with a house near Chippenham in the early hours of Sunday morning have been named locally.
Corey Owen, Ryan Nelson, Jordan Rawlings, Matthew Parke – all believed to be aged in their late teens or early 20s – died when the vehicle became a raging fireball.
The car left the road at around 3am, flipping and crashing into the front of a house. The vehicle landed on its side and burst into flames between the A4 and Old Derry Hill.
Despite the frantic efforts of the homeowner, a taxi driver and his three taxi passengers, the four friends couldn’t be rescued. A police officer arrived at the scene and pulled heroic passerby away from the flames for their own safety.
An investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
