A fleeing driver has been arrested after a person was hit by a car near Stonehenge.
Police were called to a report of a vehicle colliding with a person near the World Heritage Site’s visitor centre at around 9.30am today (Wednesday).
The driver failed to stop at the scene and drove away, prompting a search.
Officers located the vehicle – a black and white 4×4 – travelling on the A361 between Potterne and Lavington.
The car was stopped and the suspect – a man – was arrested in connection with the incident.
He was initially taken to hospital before he was transferred to Melksham custody.
He’s being held on suspicion of dangerous driving, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, driving while disqualified and possession of cannabis.
The condition of the person who was struck by the vehicle is unclear at this stage.
