Five people have been arrested after a teenager was serious injured in Swindon.

Police and ambulance were called to the incident in the Toothill area shortly after 1pm this afternoon following reports of the serious assault in Stokesay Drive.

Despite witnesses suggesting the incident was a stabbing, Wiltshire Police has been unable to confirm the nature of the attack at this early stage.

A 17-year-old boy is currently being treated by paramedics in Ely Close. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we are carrying out extensive enquiries in the local area.

“At this stage we have arrested five people on suspicion of possession of weapons offences.

“We would ask any witnesses to call us on 101, quoting log 147 of today (24/05).”
