Firefighters who saved piglets from a farm blaze in February have tucked into the very same little porkers in a lunch-break barbecue are the fire station.

Pewsey Fire Station responded to a huge fire in Milton Lilbourne, Wiltshire, where 60 tonnes of hay went up in flames.

The 18 little porkers have since been turned into sausages. And farmer Rachel Rivers has delivered some of said sausages to the brave firefighters.

She said: “I wanted to thank them. I promised them at the time I’d bring down some sausages for them, which they were all pleased about.”

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Our thanks to the farmer for her generosity. We can tell no porkies; the sausages were fantastic.”

Claire Jones took to the fire stations’s Facebook page to offer her opinion: “If you rescue cats, dogs and babies do you sit down to eat them six months later? You are vile human beings. You have no idea of what those animals went through.”
