A serious crash has closed the A361 in both directions north of Highworth.
Emergency services from across the county have raced from as far as Swindon to attend the collision involving a tipper lorry and a car in Inglesham, near Lechlade, at 4pm.
Witnesses report that both vehicles have left the road and are in a ditch.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate both casualties from the car. Both were taken to hospital by land ambulance.
The road is currently closed between the Haresfield Roundabout (Highworth) and Lechlade.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented: “We would ask drivers to seek an alternative route as this road is likely to be closed through the rush hour.”
