Firefighters are battling a major fire at an apartment block in Chippenham this evening.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Queens Square – a road off the roundabout connecting Avenue La Fleche with London Road – at shortly before 6pm.
Four fire crews are attending the incident, with smoke issuing through the roof of the building. It’s not yet clear which floor the blaze started on.
Queens Square is closed in both directions by police.
It’s not known if anyone was hurt in the fire. Neighbours told Wiltshire 999s at the scene that they don’t believe anyone was in the apartment at the time of the blaze.
