Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a village near Swindon this evening.
Emergency services were called to a kitchen fire at a house in Berton Close, Blunsdon, at around 5.45pm.
Two fire crews from Stratton and an aerial platform appliance from Swindon attended the scene.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using a hose reel jet.
Fire-damaged parts of the property were cut away, and the roof void and extraction unit were checked.
Smoke alarms really do save lives and serve as an early fire warning. Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service recommends that occupiers have a smoke alarm on every level of their home. Smoke alarms should be tested regularly, and the batteries replaced annually or as directed in the manufacturer's instructions.
