The family of an ‘unknown’ man found dead in Trowbridge have now been informed by police.
Last Friday, officers were unable to identify a man found hanged in a tree at Biss Meadows Country Park and had appealed for the public to contact them with any information, but his next of kin was later told.
A member of the public called 999 when they spotted his body at just after 10.30am.
A large field was cordoned off as a crime scene and blue screens were held up as the man was brought down from high up the tree by firefighters using a ladder and small tools.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is not being treated as suspicious. Formal identification has not yet taken place.
