SpaceX is to launch its next rocket from Salisbury Plain – with a £94 million investment in a state-of-the-art base, it has been confirmed.

As the project gets underway Elon Musk is expected to spend much of 2026 in Wiltshire, with plans to build a home on the outskirts of Warminster.

The plans – which were top secret until they were revealed in an exclusive by Fox News on Monday (31 March) – show how SpaceX will build a £94 million base on Salisbury Plain.

The exact location is unclear at this stage, but a ‘works only’ construction gate – which will be guarded by US military police – will be off A345 at Netheravon.

It’s believed Elon Musk’s UK SpaceX project is the reason behind King Charles’ unprecedented offer of a second state visit to US President Donald’s Trump.

A Ministry of Space spokesperson said: “While we can’t comment on specifics of this development, the MoS team will be pleased to welcome Elon Musk to Salisbury Plain as part of a historic space mission.

“We appreciate that the construction of this site will cause significant disruption to local residents due to its close proximity to the A345 – however, it is only likely to be for approximately three years.

“Please be assured that due diligence has been undertaken by local council officers, who have been able to impose a condition that heavy construction work will not be carried out before 4am and after 9pm.”

Elon Musk is yet to publicly comment on the Salisbury Plain project.
