A man who was seen in a car ‘headbutting the steering wheel’ has been banned from driving.
26-year-old Joshua Masters pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving a vehicle without insurance at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 21 July.
As reported by Wiltshire 999s at the time, police were called to reports of a man headbutting the steering wheel of a car and appearing intoxicated at around 8am on 18 June.
On arrival in Bishop Road, Calne, a roads policing officer approached the silver Audi A4 and drunk Masters attempted to put his keys in the ignition. Following a “tussle” over the keys, he was arrested.
He provided a positive sample of breath in custody, with a reading of 49 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The defendant, of Stokes Croft, Calne, was handed a three year driving disqualification and £120 fine. He must also pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge.
