A driver who ploughed a Honda into a Swindon store has been arrested by police.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning (4 March) after officers attempted to stop the driver – who was allegedly driving the vehicle without lights switched on.
It’s claimed the car, a black Honda Civic, then made off from police – before hitting the front of Michael’s Workwear in Cricklade Road, causing bricks to fly across the road.
The car lost its engine in the smash and the driver – a man in his 30s – was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that, miraculously, aren’t believed to be significant.
He has since been arrested by Wiltshire Police and held in custody on suspicion of three driving-related crimes.
In a short update, a force spokesperson said: “A man in his 30s from Swindon has since been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and driving without a licence.”
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
