A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car in this morning (Friday, 28 October).

Emergency services were called to Ermin Street at approximately 7.45am, following a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

The pedestrian – a man in his 60s – sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital.

A road closure was put in place while the incident was dealt with until about 9.15am, when it reopened.

Officers carried out enquiries to locate the vehicle and driver involved, arresting a man in his 60s.

He is currently being held in custody at Gablecross on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.

Any witnesses to the collision or anyone with relevant dashcam footage should call Wiltshire Police on 101 and quote log number 51 of today.
