A driver has been arrested and charged after a crash on a Chippenham roundabout.

Police were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Marshfield Road shortly before 6am this morning (Tuesday).

A Fiat Punto and a BMW M235i were involved in the incident – which saw the Fiat mount the pavement and hit a lamppost.

The driver of the Fiat, 38-year-old Simon Waite, was arrested after failing to provide a sample for analysis.

The man, of Snell Mead, Devizes, has since been charged with the offence – and has been bailed to attend Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 1 May.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that there were no reported injuries as a result of the collision.
