A drink driver has been arrested after flipping their car upside down near Swindon.

Emergency services were called to the A361 Highworth Road, in the South Marston area, at around 1.30pm today (Sunday).

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team responded to find a car had careered off the carriageway and overturned in the bushes.

The driver, whose age and gender has not yet been revealed, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving at the scene.

In custody, they reportedly told officers that they were distracted – using their mobile phone while driving at the point of the crash.

The road was closed for around two hours while 999 crews dealt with the incident and the vehicle was recovered.
