Dozens of firefighters have tackled a thatched cottage blaze near Calne.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to the serious incident in Norley Lane, Studley village, this morning (Saturday).
At the height of the incident, 15 fire crews and appliances were in attendance – some travelling from as far as 50 miles away in Sherbourne, Dorset.
At 5pm, the number of fire engines on site was scaled back after the flames were brought under control – with only smouldering to manage and monitor.
Incident commander James Weston confirmed that the occupants, and their pets – understood to be a dog and rabbits – were unharmed.
Firefighters will likely remain at the scene until tomorrow (Sunday 21 May).
Noreley Lane is closed in both directions between New Road and Studley Lane.
In a statement earlier, DWFRS said: “We are currently dealing with a property fire in Studley, Calne. Due to the number of appliances in attendance, please avoid the area of Norley Lane.
“We are also advising local residents to keep doors and windows closed due to the smoke.”
