Dozens of firefighters are tackling a tatched cottage blaze near Salisbury.
The fire broke out at a property in West Grimstead, around five miles south of the city, this afternoon (Tuesday).
A significant number of fire engines are in attendance alongside fire officers and at least one water carrier.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is advising locals to close their windows and doors due to the amount of smoke.
A spokesperson said: “We’re in attendance at a thatch fire in West Grimstead.
“We’re working alongside our Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service colleagues to bring the incident under control.
“There is a large fire service presence in the area so please avoid [the area] where possible.
“Local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the low lying smoke plume caused by the cold weather.”
