A double attempted murder suspect has been arrested by Wiltshire Police.

David Weir was released on conditional bail following the stabbing of a man and woman in the Bursledon, Hampshire, on 11 January this year.

A woman aged in her 20s sustained stab wounds to her chest and arm, while a man aged in his 20s suffered stab wounds to his head and shoulder.

At the time Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police said the incident was “domestic-related assault” at an address, which happened at around 3am.

The 62-year-old, of Salisbury Road, Amesbury, denied the charges at Southampton Crown Court on 9 February. He was later released on conditional bail.

Officers arrested Weir in Wiltshire yesterday (Monday 11 May) – for allegedly breaching his bail conditions by entering a GPS-monitored exclusion zone.

The charges read: “On or in 11 May 2026 at Melksham having been arrested by a constable for breaking a bail condition, namely entering an exclusion zone at 10/05/2026 at 07:43.

“The individual remained in this exclusion zone until 10/05/2026 at 07:46, being a person released on conditional bail on 08/05/26 by Southampton Crown Court being under a duty to surrender into the custody of a court.”

The defendant was remanded in police custody to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday).
