A donkey was left bleeding after being sexually assaulted near Swindon.
Police have launched a probe after the animal, named Masie, was found bleeding from her private parts on Saturday morning (15 June).
The donkey lives in a field in Watchfield, just east of Swindon in Oxfordshire, and is well loved by villagers – with many spotting by to say hello regularly.
A relative of Masie’s owner said “her lady parts were severely swollen and there was a lot of blood”.
She added that “Masie has been in the village for eight years and nothing like this has ever happened before.”
The woman said the family are “very shocked, disgusted and extremely disturbed that this has happened.”
It’s claimed a man’s belt was located within the field.
In a bid to prevent further harm to Masie, the owner has installed CCTV cameras in her field.
It’s believed the attack happened between 5pm on Friday 14 June and 8am on Saturday 15 June.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said that the “abuse of an animal took place on High Street” and officers are “conducting an investigation”.
Adding: “If anyone was in the area from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning and may have any information that can help our investigation please call 101 quoting 43240280367.”
It’s believed Masie will make a full recovery and currently remains in her field.
In January, a naked man was caught on CCTV ‘spending time’ in a pony’s stable near Trowbridge. The investigation into that suspected sexual assault is ongoing.
