Two dogs are missing after loud music and fireworks at a Wiltshire hotel last night.
Mr Bean actor Rowan Atkinson is believed to have thrown a birthday party for his partner Louise Ford at Lucknam Park Hotel near Chippenham on Saturday (21 May).
Loud music and entertainment could be heard for miles around, with some Corsham residents complaining about the sound throughout the late evening.
Fireworks were set off at around 10pm, sparking fears that local animals – including horses known to reside in the close vicinity of the hotel – would be affected.
The fireworks were labelled as “expensive” and “impressive” by locals, but others were left shocked.
At around 11pm, two dogs were reported missing from a home Box Hill – just four miles away.
The border collies are said to have “ran off” after the firework display. One is described as an 18-month-old tri-colour called Bobby and the other is a 14-year-old black and white named Megan. Anyone who spots the missing pets is asked to call Terri on 07766 517 087.
A resident who lives near the hotel said: “We’re in Thickwood and our little dog who is noise reactive is still absolutely petrified.
“I don’t want to be a party pooper but a bit of noise consideration wouldn’t go amiss.”
Another added: “Our dog was absolutely terrified – we back right onto Lucknam Park.
“We had warned our teenage son to make sure the dog was indoors at 9.45pm (thanks for the warning) and until fireworks finished but he phoned us to come home from a night out as the dog was so scared – he’d never seen her like that and didn’t know what to do.”
Lucknam Park Hotel did its best to warn local residents about the event, posting in various local Facebook groups about the upcoming firework display.
A spokesperson wrote: “Would just like to inform everyone that there will be a birthday celebration at Lucknam park tomorrow evening ( Saturday 21st ) which will include a firework display. The display is planned for 9.45pm”.
