A dog is facing the death sentence after a woman was attacked in a Swindon street.
Sarah Sole pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control causing injury when she appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Wednesday (6 May).
Staffordshire bull terrier Reggie violently bit a woman and her dog in Montagu Street, Rodbourne, after running out of a nearby address. Reggie was later seized by officers.
At the time of the incident Wiltshire Police confirmed that a woman aged in her 30s was injured, but her wounds were not thought to be serious.
35-year-old Sole, of Morris Street, was handed a community order – including a requirement to complete 120 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
She was banned from owning or controlling dogs for three years and a destruction order was made for Reggie, meaning he must be put to sleep.
The defendant was ordered to pay £250 in compensation to the victim.
