Roads have been closed in Trowbridge following the discovery of a incendiary bomb.

Police officers have closed the Wingfield Road junctions with Brook Road and Bradford Road at around 1.45pm this afternoon, Thursday 20 April.

The explosive device is thought to be a phosphorus-containing incendiary bomb and was found on a building site on Wingfield Road.

A police spokesperson said: “A 50-metre cordon is currently in place and local residents are advised to shut windows and doors. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team have been called to deal with the discovery.”

A RLC Bomb Disposal Unit arrived on scene at around 3.30pm.
