A different wanted man has been arrested after a ‘copycat rooftop stand-off’ in Swindon town centre on Sunday (25 May).
Emergency services were attending an incident involving a man on a roof in Newhall Street, off Crombey Street, for around seven hours.
Police were searching for Constantin Turcanu over allegations of domestic and public order offences when he allegedly ended up on top of a building.
The homeless 29-year-old has since been charged with intentionally or recklessly causing a public nuisance.
He was remanded in police custody to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday).
The incident saw numerous police units, ambulances and fire crews at the scene – with an aerial ladder platform appliance lifting officers up to the roof.
It comes just two weeks after wanted criminal Jamie Loveridge, also 29 and homeless, scaled nearby buildings, sparking the closure of Crombey Street.
Loveridge has since been jailed for 44 weeks.
