A kebab shop in Devizes is ‘still on fire’ 14 hours after the blaze took hold.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) remain on scene in Northgate Street this afternoon (Tuesday) as firefighters work to fully exstigist the flames.
While the majority of the fire is out, there are “still pockets of fire within the affected building”, a spokesperson for the service said.
Crews are expected to stay at the incident into the night. It’s not yet clear whether the road will be open by Wednesday morning (13 November).
In a statement, DWFRS wrote: “Firefighters remain at the scene of this morning’s fire in Northgate Street, as there are still pockets of fire within the affected building.
“Work has been carried out this afternoon to make the utilities safe.”
They continued: “We expect crews to remain on scene for some hours yet. Our Wiltshire has been on site to secure the road closure, which will remain in place until further notice.
“Our thanks to everyone who has sent us such kind comments, they are much appreciated.”
