Detectives have been given more time to question a suspect following a murder in Easterton.
999 crews battled to save the life of a man, aged in his 40s, at an address in Strawberry Fields following a call at around 8pm on Tuesday evening (2 July).
Despite their best efforts, he died from stab wounds at the scene – and a woman, aged in her 50s, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The suspect remains in police custody after a court granted detectives more time to question her in connection with the violent killing.
“Following a request to the court, we have been granted a further 36 hours to question her”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
They added: “A cordon remains in place at the property while we continue with our enquiries.
“We would like to reassure the public that the suspect and victim are believed to be known to each other and there is no wider risk to the public.
“Anyone who has any information on the incident is asked to contact us on 101 quoting log 291 of July 2.”
On Wednesday (3 July), forensic work was carried out – and two dogs were removed from the property. The road has reopened, but the house remains cordoned off.
