Wiltshire Police has launched an investigation after a deer was found dead near Swindon.
The roe deer was located in an industrial estate off Thornhill Road, South Marston, on Sunday 5 June.
Officers from the Rural Crime Unit say it suffered a wound which appeared to have left an air rifle pellet in its stomach – possible causing its death.
“It was clear that it had recently been shot and had died from this injury”, a force spokesperson said.
They added: “If you heard or saw anything suspicious on this evening which may be of use please call 101 and quote 54220057736.”
