The ‘dazzling sun’ is said to have caused a crash near Lyneham on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision on the A3102 at around 3.30pm.
The two-vehicle crash happened between Tockenham Wick and Lyneham and involved a grey Lexus rear-ending a heavy goods vehicle, which didn’t suffer any serious damage.
Luckily, the occupants avoided serious injuries and were able to walk away from the crash.
A Special Constable (volunteer police officer) is said to have been first at the scene, confirming that the cause of the collision was the sun setting over Wiltshire.
Drivers are warned to ‘be careful’ when travelling in the direction of the afternoon sunshine.
