A crime scene is in place in Trowbridge after a suspected violent assault.
Police were called to the incident in the Manor Road area shortly before 5am today (4 March).
The casualty was rushed to hospital with a “significant head injury”, before police launched an investigation into the circumstances.
At around 8.30am, a police dog unit was carrying out searches at the scene, whilst officers look into nearby dustbins – possibly in search of a weapon or other discared evidence.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called at approximately 4.45am to a report of a male victim with a significant head injury on Manor Road/Frome Road, Trowbridge.
“We responded with the ambulance service and located the male, who has been taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
“Our investigation is at an early stage and we have two scenes is in place at Manor Road and outside the Ship Inn on Frome Road, but is believed that this is an isolated incident and there are no concerns to the safety of the wider public.”
