Two people narrowly escaped being seriously hurt after a tree fell onto their moving car.
A couple were travelling together along Black Dog Hill – between Calne and Chippenham – at around 10am this morning in a blue Skoda when the terrifying incident happened.
A large tree fell from its upright position into the road, smashing their car’s windscreen entirely. A white van was also damaged – with its windscreen also smashed.
The shocked couple called the emergency services but luckily didn’t require medical treatment.
The road was closed in the direction of Calne for two hours while the tree was removed. Police remained at the scene to control traffic during this time.
