Two of Swindon’s main roads have been partially closed due to flooding.

Swindon Borough Council closed lanes on Great Western Way and Queens Drive this morning.

A spokesperson said: “Following continued heavy rain and surface water flooding we have had to temporarily limit the number of lanes open on Great Western Way on and by the Oasis roundabout for driver safety. We will reopen the lanes once the water has receded.

“We will also be closing a lane on Queens Drive due to the water opening up a large pothole that can’t be repaired with the road surface so wet. We will be making the repair as soon as it is possible to do so.

“Thank you for your patience, and with less rain currently forecast for this afternoon, hopefully we will be back to normal soon.”
