An elderly paedophile with a string of convictions for sexual offences against children has been jailed following his latest act – indecently exposing himself to two young children.

88-years-old Swindon man Peter Kis, from Barnum Court, Rodbourne, was first convicted of a child sex attack in 1967 but has continued offending since.

On Tuesday 2 May 2020, an eight-year-old girl was playing with her six-year-old sister in the street near his home where he was sitting in his front garden. As they walked past, Kis indecently exposed himself to the children and they ran away – immediately telling a parent who called the police.

Officers attended Kis’ address and arrested him on the same day; he was charged the following day.

At Swindon Crown Court today, he was sentenced to a two-year jail term – with an extended licence period of three years – after he pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child last month.

Following the sentencing, PC Paul Davis, who led the investigation, said: “We welcome this sentence today which reflects the seriousness of this man’s motivations and actions in front of two very young girls.

“Thanks to the quick thinking of their mother, we were able to arrest Kis almost immediately after the incident. Today’s result also reflects how much of a danger this man is seen to be to the public and that the only place for him is prison.

“He was out of jail on licence when he committed this indecent act and I hope this gives some comfort to our victims and their family that he is now back behind bars.

“I also hope this sends a message to the public that we will take any incident like this seriously and would encourage anyone who witnesses anything like this to report it to police immediately.”
